Inspector Ian provides a residential and commercial inspection service to the Bay Area. We are out and about in the counties of Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, Contra-Costa and San Mateo most days. We also visit inspection sites in Santa Clara, San Joaquin and Solano counties.

Ian Westmoreland PhD (right), owner of Inspector Ian, has been involved in construction projects for over twenty five years. Starting his working life as a carpenter and picture framer back in the late 1980's, he took a unique career path that eventually led to a PhD in chemistry, an appointment at UC Berkeley, and a term in Silicon Valley. Having left the frenetic work of scientific research behind, he returned to his first love: buildings and their construction. Ian Westmoreland is a fully qualified and certified member of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), and operates Inspector Ian according to clearly set-out Standards of Practice and a strict Code of Ethics.
